Thanks for stopping by. That guy you see over on the right hand side of your computer screen is the most curious person you will ever meet - virtually or otherwise.
I use this curiosity in my work as an independent marketing strategist, writer-for-hire and freelance advertising creative director. I love learning new things and then communicating them to unsuspecting readers.
The areas where I have the most writing expertise include:
Health & Fitness
Business technology
Hunting, Fishing and all outdoor sports
Advertising & Marketing
Radio & Television
Music & Entertainment
Here's a brief run-down on my life before becoming an independent word guy.
As president and executive creative director of BLITZ! in Dallas/Nashville from1998 through 2002, I led this sports marketing division of Athlon Sports Communications. Successful projects were completed in such areas as brand development, direct marketing, electronic publishing, sales promotions, public relations and special event planning and execution.
A five-year tour of duty on the "client side" helped me to understand the challenges of building a product, getting it out the door and making a profit on its sale. As vice president of marketing and sales for Donruss Playoff trading cards (1993-1998), I supervised all new product development, licensing programs with the NFL, Major League Baseball, The Cartoon Network, Turner Network and other, advertising and public relations efforts on behalf of the company and its brands. This job was great fun. Especially the part where I got to write the card backs for trading cards.
Before the trading card gig, I was a creative director and consultant for a number of U.S. and Canadian advertising and public relations agencies, along with a select number of corporations from 1985-1993. Specializing in children's marketing, new product feasibility, and advertising creative, I had the opportunity to help design and launch several successful products.
I started my advertising and marketing career at the age of 14 by convincing the owner of my hometown radio station to hire me for an on-air shift. I continued to work in broadcasting for 12 years in several markets...hosted a pretty good talk show, played music and hung out with rock stars.
I graduated from the University of Texas at Austin (1975) with a B.A. with honors in political science. I have won some national awards for business communications, public relations, and advertising creative. Marketing and Ad people LOVE contests and awards shows.

For the 11th year, an ecological disaster in Canada has afforded goose hunters in the United States an extension of the regular hunting season. Even though the official season for waterfowl concludes at the end of January, goose hunters have been given what the folks in Louisiana call a lagniappe – a little something extra.
