I'm a graduate of Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania with a degree in Psychology. I graduated high school in 1977 and took a long and not-so-leisurely time reading college books with one eye and keeping track of the CIA with the other. In other words they were my career advisors!? I finally graduated college in 1984 and considered myself a soldier after the supreme effort of dealing with and understanding the CIA's (and the FBI's) propaganda mission in my life. It sounds like the outline for a novel. I'm sidling up to those stories but it's a moving target. While there I wrote and drew a handful of cartoons for the student newspaper The Eagle Eye.
My alma mater Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania is a small university where my dad once taught Earth Science. We have a long tradition of excellence in sports and especially wrestling. We have crowned several Division I national champions and have produced Olympic wrestlers including Sarah McMann who was the first American Olympic medalist in female wrestling. Sports is close to my heart. My alma mater has honored its national champions with huge ten-foot-tall paintings in the wrestling venue on campus Thomas Field House. I went to elementary school just across a cul-de-sac from the gymnasium which is just missing the "Hay" or it would complete my name. It was an innocent town and had a prideful following those people who followed the Lock Haven State College Bald Eagles in the 60s.
I spent four years in the Army in the mid 1980's and took graduate courses in Educational Psychology while a soldier.
I began writing about five years ago and have two books of poetry put together but not yet published. I also illustrated them while waiting for a printer to organize a printing run for my book. The illustrations have endured but my enthusiasm for local printers has waned. I printed several dozen books myself but haven't yet done a mass printing.
I have written for Associated Content for a while now and just recently found (just about a year ago now) Helium. As a writer for AssociatedContent.com I attended rallies for speeches by Governor Tim Kaine of Virginia, Bill Clinton, Sarah Palin. and Barack Obama. Most of those events were filled with energy and hopefulness and all of them were significant and pivotal local events for different reasons.
I have a passion for truth even in the face of Neo-fascist tactics by those faces (feces) everyone knows and mistrusts...and my website-tommyhayu.us- demonstrates my passion for passion. My thought to people who have a grievance is keep on movin' the ball forward. Never give up, don't ever give up!
I enjoy creating creative writing that interests me-the act of putting words on paper is a soothing balm. I hope it interests you as well! You can find stuff to laugh about here and also things to make you cry. I find myself wanting to tell stories about our country that are sad but true. I hope they don't take a smile off your face at the end of the day.
My passion is ...
Passion itself and not fear itself...We don't need to fear passion and don't need to have a passion for fear: who would?!
I know too much about ...
the Central Intelligence Agency's dirty tricks capabilities and the FBI's reluctance to observe it
My parents always told me ...
They didn't tell me slogans but trusted my instincts to be intellectually honest...
My childhood ambition ...
Don't complicate things...be happy and people will follow your lead
My favorite memory ...
Surviving a fall that might have killed me yet it made me stronger mentally...
Why I write ...
To give people insights about their passion..they're not sure they have a right to have passion and some think they need to pursue a passion for fear: that's crazy!?
What I am reading/watching/listening to ...
As a lot of peope who write a lot I don't so much read as write which I read and edit.
My first job ...
delivering the Lock Haven Express, a daily newspaper.
My best moment ...
The next person who reads my words and realizes they don't have to fear life and can have a passion for passion! I have faith people will see honesty in my words and then hopefully their path will be truer...
My inspiration ...
with love and understanding a man will thrive...those who hear the cries of children God will bless
Shine a Light I underneath the tree lay and the warm stars shine a twinkle, a thread of a dream of hope (but I, undreaming but not unwilling , fail to see) Perhaps the world twinkles away this night for me? (I pray the Lord my soul to keep!) I, so close to the stars, almost to heaven lay in God's lap under the that starlit stage Shine on my future I might nightly pray as I prepare to dream a chosen dream though I lay not awake this Winter night The stars, such a happy play they saw as I youthfully played and nightly chose my dreams from many a happy childhood stage&...
