About me - Linda Joyce

About me

I have always loved writing and as a student was never intimidated when a teacher asked us to write a 500 word composition. I looked forward to it!

I first got published in the eighties when I submitted a story to a romance magazine. I was paid $125 for it and was thrilled.

Branching out, I moved away from romance stories to other types of magazines and have had numerous articles published.

Most of my adult life I've written, but it's only been the last few years that I've taken my writing seriously. This has been my best year ever, as far as being published goes, because I have worked hard to respect myself and treat my writing as a real job.

I'm happy to have joined Helium. It is a good way to get feedback from your peers. I also enjoy reading everyone else's articles. It's also a great way to stretch as a writer-disciplining yourself enough to do research on a topic you know nothing about. Now that's a challenge!
