About me - Amanda R. Dollak

About me

Between the fall of 2004 and the spring of 2006, I attended Pennsylvania Highlands Community College, pursuing an A.A. in Liberal Arts. During my time at Penn Highlands, I became a member of Phi Theta Kappa and volunteered as a peer tutor in a number of subjects (largely writing and literature). In August of 2006, I transfered to Colorado Technical University Online so I could spend more time with my family. Two years later, I graduated with honors from CTU's B.S. Criminal Justice Program and began writing articles for Associated Content and Helium to pursue my love of writing.  Now I am currently enrolled at American Military University so I may earn an M.A. in Homeland Security.

I am the proud mother of two young children: a son (4) and a daughter (3). They are one of my greatest passions and continue to inspire me to hold tight to my dreams, especially my dream of reaching others through my writing. Since I can remember, I have always loved writing (prose, poetry & nonfiction) and reading. I also love the outdoors and find myself most in touch with God, myself, and my loved ones when I am surrounded by the boundless beauty of nature.

Briefly me

My passion is ...

finding the miraculous in the simplest of things.

I know too much about ...

nothing. There is always something new to learn.

My parents always told me ...

hard work and determination are what make dreams realities.

My childhood ambition ...

was to help others any way I could.

My favorite memory ...

is any moment spent with my fiance and our children.

Why I write ...

I write to touch the hearts of others so they can, in turn, inspire and help others.

What I am reading/watching/listening to ...

I read, watch, and listen to a myriad of things, so it could be just about anything.

My first job ...

was organizing/recycling packing and crating materials for my uncle's moving business.

My best moment ...

is when I know I am truly helping or inspiring another and making a difference in that person's life.

My inspiration ...

is my faith in God, my family, and life's smallest of miracles.

The Bestial Shopper Within After a long, hectic day of classes, tedious chores, homework, and endless errands, I collapsed onto my couch, hoping to rest a moment before I headed to the kitchen to prepare that evening's meal. The soft cushion embraced my tired, strained muscles, and for an instant, I was in perfect bliss without a single worry or care. However, suddenly, my rapture was rudely shattered as I opened my eyes. There on my freshly polished coffee table lay, mockingly, my hastily scratched shopping list of the ingredients I needed for the spaghetti dinner I was supposed to be coo...
