About me

I am in mid-life with no crisis! It's the best time of my life. My kids are grown and thriving and I'm contentedly married and finally got it right.

I write to entertain myself, to develop myself and to share myself. I find that I am fairly good with the written word and often can express things this way that come harder for me verbally. At times the feelings I write about surprise even me. So it's also a great form of self discovery.

I am striving to be more disciplined in writing - as I am sure this is what it takes to be good at it. Creative writing is my favorite vein and I must work to resist the urge to over edit until my creative juices leak out.

In April 2008 I started writing a personal blog. It has been my jumping off point and a great outlet for my personal frustration, my over-thinking and my creativity.

I'm so thankful to anyone interested in reading my writings.

Briefly me

My passion is ...

to keep striving until I find the things I am passionate about in life.

I know too much about ...

family drama and anger.

My parents always told me ...

and demonstrated for me that children should be seen and not heard, but I have thrived in spite of them and learned that they don't know everything.

My childhood ambition ...

was mainly to escape the chaos of living at home and to be by myself.

My favorite memory ...

is the sweetness of the time I spent raising my two little boys as a single mom. Nothing brings me to tears quicker than thinking of them.

Why I write ...

to share myself in ways I am otherwise not comfortable sharing.

What I am reading/watching/listening to ...

What's So Amazing About Grace, Edward Sawtelle

My first job ...

a carhop at Sonic Drive-In Texas - the non roller skating variety.

My best moment ...

probably occurred when looking into the eyes of my children and could never be replaced with any experience since.

My inspiration ...

lies in loving, authentic relationships, in my interaction with my husband of 12 years, and in realizing how much God has cared for my life over the years.

Creative Writing > Satire Satire: Shopping

While I understand that shopping is a necessary evil, I happen to consider shopping for clothing and the quest to stay in fashion among the nastiest forms of societal torture. I spent this morning sorting out my closet and stacking the clothes that I cannot bring myself to wear anymore. It should be noted that this is a very scientific process: There is the "too large" pile. The "too tight around the bust" pile. (All tops eventually make their way to this pile.) The "this makes you look like someone's grandmother and you're only 40-something" pile. And the "used to be the right length, but...
