The Shar-pei is a cute, wrinkled all over, blue tongued ancient Chinese fighting dog, that is no breed solely as companion dogs. The extreme wrinling of these dogs the result of a genetic alteration the Chinese purposely bred in to these dog to help with protection when they fought. It is actually a hereditary disorder. The Shar-pei is an adorable looking pet whose coat resembles sand in it's fuzzy soft coat and is sometimes referred to as sand skin. Their blue tongue was bred in, supposedly to "ward off evil spirits".and is specific only to this breed. Don't let the sweet looks of this do...
