Born seven minutes after midnight on Jan 1st, I was the first baby born in the state of Virginia, 1965. The oldest of three boys, I was raised in Crescent City, Florida. I joined the Air Force in 1983, and became a Worldwide Firefighter in March 84. Retired in 2005 after 21 years and 8 months of service. I currently live in Palm Coast, Fl., and teach for the Flagler County School system. In my spare time, I'm also a freelance writer. In addition to writing on Helium.com, The Bleacher Report, ESPN.com, Fox Sports, and S.I.com, I also own and operate "The Florida Writer" and my sports blog, is "The Florida Writer Sports Blog."
Some of my hobbies include: Going to the gym, and the beach, watching sports, reading, writing, and playing playstation with my son. I like just about any sport, but College Football and ML Baseball are my favorites. I love the Gators! I also attend, cover and report on all Crescent City Raider High School Football home games for the Courier Journal Newspaper in Crescent City, Florida.

Blazing Black Bean and Ham Soup With winter upon us, I thought it might be nice to do my favorite soup. Nothing is better than a hot and spicy soup to warm you up on a cold winter day. You can make this soup as feisty as you like; it's easy to control the heat by adjusting the amount of peppers. To really spoil your taste buds, top it off with cheese, sour cream or both.
