Andrea Miller Theisson lives just west of Gettysburg in an 1830 farmhouse, where she maintains her studio. Theisson is a magna cum laude graduate of the Tyler School of Art, Philadelphia. She is dedicated to a multi-mused and amused artistic life, organic gardening and holistic parenting.
Her expressionistic paintings and tapestries, in collections internationally, reflect her love of nature, landscape, philosophy and literature. Mountains and forests are her soul-places, and the motion of water and sunlight, colors and shadows are her inspiration. Multi-media works continue to be inspired by her experiences living on both the West Coast and the East, travels in mountains and on beaches, and many, many books.
The artist has shown her work at numerous regional universities and colleges as well as national juried shows; she teaches tapestry and also history of architecture, college-level textiles and creativity courses; has home-schooled her (now college student) son; and learned to cook gourmet venison since moving to Adams County. She has written and/or edited several books, including Other Gettysburg Addresses and Ike- Gettysburg's Gentleman Farmer, as well as worked as an editorial assistant and proofreader for magazines and publishers. This artist has also worked as a curator, librarian, in museums and painted murals.
Her next agenda includes more writing, as well as continued studio work, the ever-unfolding spirit-quest and trips to Taos, NM, Florida and back to the West Coast, plus all the big-sky spaces in between! Andrea is available to work with individuals facilitating their own book-publishing process, and to edit.
Theisson's work is available at her home studio by appointment ( 717) 337-3044, and through the City Art Gallery, 118 West Philadelphia St., York, PA 17401. (717) 699-2278.
