About me - Christopher Unterkofler

About me

Christopher Unterkofler was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

The family moved to Glastonbury and then on to Rockville, Connecticut, where Chris spent most of the grade school years in the public education system. An enduring appreciation, understanding and love for the sciences in general, and specifically all things biological, were kindled while living in Connecticut and only deepened as the years progressed.

After the aerospace job layoffs, the family moved to the suburban town of Nanuet, New York where Chris attended, first, private school and then public high school, and where, as a teenager, was the first individual to discover the placier gold deposits along the stretch of the Naurashaun Brook, which runs through Rockland County, New York.

A hopeful candidate for the West Point Military Academy, Chris decided, instead, to join the United States Air Force in the intelligence field as a cryptolinguist and served honorably for four years, most notably at the National Security Agency.

After military service, Chris worked several years in the semiconductor industry.

At an age much older than other college students, Chris decided to finally attend college as a non-traditional student at Southampton College on the East End of Long Island, living in the dormitories with his Freshman classmates.

Chris was of great assistance to his younger classmates who had not yet refined the writing and research skills necessary to successfully navigate through the rigorous university curriculum. Chris graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Biology.

Now working in Arizona, some of Chris' other employment experiences include: Author, Tutor, Animal Research at NIH, Environmental Laboratory Technician/Analyst, and substitute teacher.

Chris' many interests include, but are not limited to, biology, geology, genetics, astronomy, history, exobiology, archaeology, anthropology, writing, ancient history, education and politics.

The bestselling author of the young-adult novel CHILDREN OF THE TUNNELS welcomes all email communications concerning his articles, books, accomplishments, and life experiences.
