I am a biologist turned high school science and marine studies teacher. Born in Oregon, I developed a life-long love of nature and wildlife. I now live on a large property in the Australian Bush, which is a wildlife refuge for such animals as platypus, koalas, wallabies, kangaroos, possums and a large number of other mammals, birds, reptiles and invertebrates.
I am also involved in wildlife rescue and rehabilitation which has generated a lot of stories. I write for the love of it but also to help educate children about our wonderful wildlife so they will want to protect it. I have self published several small books including: Walpajirri, The Legend of the Easter Bilby, FleaStory, and the Australian Bush Colouring Book.
I am now the steward of the Zoology Channel. I hope to help make this channel a veritable goldmine of zoological information with the help of many other great Helium writers.

Life

We have our differences but we are still descended from the same ancestors and have basically the same genetic makeup as our fathers, brothers, husbands and other male relatives and friends. We are all descendants of hunter-gatherers, people who lived off the land by gathering roots, shoots, seeds, berries and other plant matter and by hunting animals. It is another common myth that only men hunted while women did the gathering. Like all such male-female myths, there is a grain of truth.&nb...
