Hi, I'm Joelle. I have written for an online newsletter, a grant funded pharmaceutical newsletter, Hubpages, and two blogs. I went to the University of Toledo and studied psychology and philosophy.
I once heard that one should look to her childhood love and interests to find her dream career. Since I never dreamed of being a princess or marrying my father I suppose that little exercise may have some merit in my life. As I looked inward to see what I truly desired to do I rediscovered my love for writing and photography. Oddly, I never focused on either one but allowed each to be a mere hobby. So, while I juggle feeding a baby, playing Candyland with my toddler, homeschool 5th grade and 3rd grade, make dinner and fold laundry, I am attempting my hand at writing and photography once again.
My passion is ...
My Lord, my husband, my kids, and my writing.
I know too much about ...
changing diapers, potty training, discipline, getting out food stains in a couch, and fussy babies.
My parents always told me ...
It's now what you say it's how you say it.
My childhood ambition ...
To be a photographer or a historian.
Why I write ...
I write because I love to express myself creatively. I also have a curiosity about the world around me. My writing defines who I am. It maintains my individual identity in the midst of being a wife and mother of four.
My best moment ...
I have been blessed to have four best moments. Each time I held my newborn baby for the first time would be my best moments.
My inspiration ...
The blessings and trials I face everyday.
My daughters enjoy the best of two cultures in having a white mother and a black father. However, this combination did not come without its troubles. The most notable trouble surprisingly turned out to be their bi-racial hair. Hours have been spent trying to untangle knots amidst the falling tears and pleas to stop brushing for just a moment. Both girls have long very curly red hair that never fails to get compliments every place they go. Compliments which are always followed by the unending question on how I manage to get a comb through their hair. For years I could supply no answer ...
