About me - Michael Penner

About me

I'm a 40 year old marketing and web design consultant living in Visalia, California. Writing has taught me just how wordy I am. My friends and family are surely blessed with a lower word count when I speak now that I have learned, through writing, how to be more concise.

I've written highly technical white papers, the occassional short story, and of course carefully crafted marketing messages for client web marketing campaigns.

I've worked with the Founder of Bowflex, the founder of Micron Computers, and other industry leaders. I've worked with garage based technology startups and I find the innovators leading such efforts as impressive as those that have already made their mark. I approach every client with the same respect and care, no matter their status or reputation. Frankly, I'd rather be ignorant of both.

Communication is a difficult proposition at best, and this is why I value editors so much. Rarely have I encountered a situation where a suggested edit made the piece worse.

My clients hire me based on my eagerness to learn about their business and the passion that drives them. Even a technical white paper must exude this passion. It does so in the form of energy devoted to subject matter clarity, structure, economy of words and predictability of word choice. After all, this is "somebody's baby" the white paper is talking about. My job as a writer is to make sure that baby is in some way nurtured by my efforts.

Now you'll want, but you won't need. Now the fight begins. The dark inside wants to reclaim you. Now we'll see who wins. Draw a circle twice around you. Fight like hell to keep inside. Beautiful, blissful things surround you. Feelings for sale, for the ride. You must have been screaming inside. From darkness you climbed to the sun. We watched with our arms open wide. The struggle for light has begun. Right now you're learning how To suffer the pain of control. They'll promise to help and console you. Don't touch them, they'll swallow you whole. Yes, my friend. Don't say a word. Don't say a...
