I am a creative and committed therapist (psychologist and licensed professional counselor), writer and educator with over 25 years' experience, living in the beautiful Pacific Northwest.
We had always wanted to live here, so in 2000 we picked up and moved (after our typical months of planning) - time was a-wastin'! It's very different here from the Midwest in so many ways, some that I couldn't have predicted, and the change continues to be educational and life-altering.
I have studied the meaning of consciousness, cognitive, positive and transpersonal psychology, and relationships for decades, and I'm still learning. I'm happy when I'm researching and writing about these topics. My workshop, Making Conscious Choices, is a continuing project from this search. I individualize the workshop for each group I teach, and I am constantly updating it, a joyful task. My web site is www.diannelobes.com.
I am an inveterate political wonk and media critic - I love to write about both. My family, my wonderful home on 3 wooded acres of serenity, and my cats are also my joys.
My passion is ...
exploring and using my gifts and helping others to find and use theirs. Love it!
I know too much about ...
I'm always learning. This is my passion too.
My parents always told me ...
to show my intelligence, do my best, follow through with committments and laugh a lot.
My childhood ambition ...
was to become a writer!
My favorite memory ...
is being with my family at Christmas, when my parents were alive.
Why I write ...
I have written since I was six years old. It helps me to understand myself and the world around me, and I become a clearer, happier and more honest person.
What I am reading/watching/listening to ...
The Biology of Belief by Bruce Lipton, Ph.D. - my second reading and I'm finding more and more in it. We have only just begun to understand how to operate these amazing human bodyminds.
My first job ...
I xeroxed copies in a neighbor's business downtown. I called myself a "xerographer" LOL.
My best moment ...
is when I know what I want to say and how to say it.
My inspiration ...
can come from anywhere. I'm open!
A spiral is a beautiful and dynamic swirl that can help you find your life's purpose if you follow its turns long enough. There are spiral icons in nearly every cultural tradition; there are spirals in nature (seashells); there are spirals in physics (fractals). Their beauty is a tip-off that something integral is happening here and, as with all things beautiful, we are drawn in to look for a long time. It takes a while to peel back all the layers and truly comprehend its purpose. We are moved by spirals. They're a great metaphor for life - beautiful, mysterious, seemingly simple, but then...
