I've held a job for twenty years in an insurance office, and I write to escape the monotony. I've always had a passion for writing, and wanting to "leave a fingerprint" on the world. Probably this lust for the written word was sparked by one of my English teachers in high school many decades ago when she entered some of my work in a regional contest. My first time ever, I won an honorable mention and was published by the magazine (never mind that it was a very tiny collegiate annual!) - it was enough for me! The bug had bit. Throughout a lifetime of raising two children, working many jobs, volunteering, and all of life's usual mundane activities, writing has provided me with the feeling of making a difference somehow, leaving a legacy. I hope someday that I'm right. My accomplishments, thus far, have been mostly regional and tied to one charitable event or another. In earlier years, I also combined any writing skills I may have had with graphics art - illustrating cookbooks, childrens' stories, and even spending time editing other author's manuscripts. In 2007, I was happy to be included as a co-author of a two-book series for charity. The "Miko and Lil" series, published by Black Wolf Books, is a delightful, though bizarre, family read for any audience. Our effort was supported by the band, Los Lonely Boys, and has a dedication in each book by them. Proceeds of sales have helped to support the Sudden Infant Death Syndrome foundation.

But just as any great idea is born of hard times, we need to each take a long hard look at our individual lives, knowing individual efforts - no matter how small - can help to change our economy for the better and say "let it begin with me". Our government is on the brink of vast, sweeping economic reforms, primarily aimed at the banking and credit card industries. This is long overdue. There ...
