Hi, I'm Mary. I am an ESL teacher at an elementary school. I am an avid journaler. As a child, I dreamed of being a writer when I grew up. The only writing I have actually done has been term papers for school, and my own private journaling.
I took up journaling in the year 2000. This was the year after my dad passed away. My first journal started out as stilted and inauthentic. I didn't want anyone to pick up my journal and find out what was really going on in my heart. After a short time, I discovered that to continue to write these inauthentic, plastic little entries was plain boring and a waste of my time. My choice - either quit journaling or get real!
I chose to get real in my journal writing. I decided not to let my concerns over, "Who will read this journal and what will they think?" get in the way of getting in touch with my real heart. My ex-husband was the only one I was living with, and he wasn't really interested anyway!
40+ journals later, I am still journaling! Most of my entries are written as letters to God. Sometimes I write letters to a person I am struggling with at the moment. I have written through grief, love, divorce, death, trauma, abuse, sin, and redemption. My journals are a fufilling work in progress, a companion...friend.
I haven't really tried writing for the world outside, yet. Helium seems like a good place to start.

Sexual addiction is a major cause of divorces. The Internet has made pornography easily available in many homes, so the impact on today's family is multiplied. Another destroyer of the family is domestic violence. Domestic violence can increase the inciden...
