About me - John S Foster

I was born in Philadelphia Pa. in 1960, but I was raised mostly in N.E. Pa.

In High School, I loved learning about History, and Science. I seemed to be aware of Social issues seemingly more than others were. I always wanted to know what made people tick.

Creative Writing > Poetry Poetry: Appreciation

Lay me down to sleep When I awake, whatever time of day. I thank God. I thank Him for keeping me while I slept. I thank Him for having a warm place to sleep. For having a roof over my head. I thank Him. There are many who don't have these things. Who sleep under a bridge. In the cold of winter. Who sleep in hunger and in fil...

Religion & Spirituality > Bible Study Is the Bible outdated and irrelevant?

Is the Bible outdated and irrelevant? The other day I had a spirited talk with a man who is generally an Atheist. The funny thing about him was that he knew nothing about the Bible or God, except what others had told him. He would argue about science and the proof that science produces in most cases, and this is mostly becau...

Religion & Spirituality > Christian Beliefs & Culture Should Christians have to work on Sunday?

Perhaps the better statement would be Should Christians work on Sunday. I would like to know, why anyone, Christian or anyone else would want to work on Sunday. Are we as a society expected to work seven days a week? I thought there was a labor law against this. If one works on Sunday than I am going to assume that, they wou...

Creative Writing > Poetry Poetry: Emptiness

Emptiness... I feel empty. I am empty. My life has not been that bad. I've done many things, many things I've had. I should be happy, not sad. What happened? Why not glad? I feel empty. I am empty. I am curious for so many things, I have searched many things. Some of these things, happiness brings. Yet I feel empty. I am emp...

Religion & Spirituality > Spirituality (Other) If you were God, which of the deadly sins would you remove

This is without a doubt, a rhetorical question. How can any one know the mind of God in any form, unless they have studied the Holy Bible and received the gift of the Holy Ghost, which leads us in revelation knowledge? If sin and grace were truly understood, this question would be moot. Now that I got that off my chest, let'...

Religion & Spirituality > Thoughts on God Man's relationship to God explored

THE GODHEAD, THE KNOWLEDGE, AND MAN I did this work some time ago. The purpose was to explain our relationship with God and our reason for existence. I did not want to place any commentary to this work, to let the Bible speak for its self. So I used the Amplified Version Bible, and I jumped from Scripture to Scripture, not i...

Religion & Spirituality > Churches & Organizations Confronting the divisions of Christianity

Proverbs 13:10 By pride and insolence comes only contention, but with the well-advised is skillful and godly Wisdom. The Contentious Church. We are indeed a flawed people. No one is perfect, we all make mistakes, and we all get things wrong. Even in the body of Christ there are flaws. Yet generally speaking, we as Christians...

Religion & Spirituality > Christian Doctrine & Issues He who throws the first stone

John 8:7 However, when they persisted with their question, He raised Himself up and said, Let him who is without sin among you be the first to throw a stone at her. 8 Then He bent down and went on writing on the ground with His finger. 9 They listened to Him, and then they began going out, conscience-stricken, one by one, fr...

Religion & Spirituality > Bible Study Was Jesus' mother Mary divine or just human?

Was Jesus' mother Mary divine or just human? I must start this with an apology, because this will sound harsh and sarcastic. But it needs to be said. Forgive me, for I am a teacher of the Word. The Bible. The Scriptures. And all that It says. No. I do not know all things pertaining to God. However, I try to be sincere and ho...

Religion & Spirituality > Christian Beliefs & Culture The "must" factor in being born again

The "must" factor in being born again There are several considerations in the MUST factor of being born again. First, one MUST realize that there is a problem. That, Yes, I am a sinner. I worked as a Probation and Parole officer for a few years and in doing so there were many clients on probation that really did not realize ...
