About me - John S Foster

About me

I was born in Philadelphia Pa. in 1960, but I was raised mostly in N.E. Pa.

In High School, I loved learning about History, and Science. I seemed to be aware of Social issues seemingly more than others were. I always wanted to know what made people tick.

I was on the track team, Wresting, and Gymnastics team. However, my main interest was Martial Arts. Including the history, religion, and philosophy behind it.

From High school, I served 8 years in the Air Force, as a Security Policeman. Living 5 years in S. Korea. I always had a thing for all things Asian, so going to Korea was like a dream come true. I served the remaining 3 years in Texas. Since then I have lived back home in Pa.

I have dabbled in writing since I was 12 years old. Writing poems and fictional work.

I always had a vivid imagination, and was full of ideas. In addition, I was good with words. I guess because I liked to read a lot.

I have submitted poems on poetry web sites but I did not win anything, never the less it felt satisfying to have writings published. I also have a fictional Christian novelette published through a subsidy publisher, called The Gift. Under the pen name, John Stevens, that has not gotten anywhere either. I like to think that The Gift did not get far because I could not afford to advertise it.

My favorite book outside the Bible is Jonathan Livingston Seagull by Richard Bach.

I read it when I was 12 years old. It struck a chord in me.

I have always wanted to be a successful writer and I knew I needed help in doing that. (Do not ask why I did not go to school for it.) However, just by chance, I fell upon Helium. And I have found this site to be an answer to my prayers.

My heroes are Bruce Lee, Mohammad Ali, Malcolm X, Martin L. King, and Gandhi and, I cannot leave out, Jesus. (I am an ordained non-denominational Minister).

These men were all innovative, greats, that I admire, that went outside the box and who were not afraid to stand up for what they felt was right.

They seem to have come from obscurity into notoriety and they are proof that one man can make a difference.

I aspire to that ideal, and so I practice writing with hope that I too, can make a difference.

Religion & Spirituality > Christian Doctrine & Issues Should we believe the concept of the Trinity

Oneness vs. Trinity doctrine. In studying this subject, the first point that concerns me is the verbiage of oneness and trinity. The Bible does not use either. The Bible speaks of a Godhead. Therefore, I ask myself, why then would anyone use a different phrase? What that has done is create a rift in the family of God. I am sure Satan is loving every minute of it.  Before I began this study, I felt that the two were probably meaning the same thing, just expressing it differently. After studying the several articles on this subject, I found myself leaning more towards the trinity side, ...
