A transplanted "New Englanda", I live in Florida with my wife of 41 years, Anne. We live close to our two sons and their families and 3 wonderful grandchildren, and we share our living space with one very special Australian Shepherd named Chamois, 2 cats, "Scratch & Sniff", 5 feral cats that camp out on our back porch 24/7, and hundreds of books.
Although I'm retired now, I was very fortunate to have had two careers, and am now working on my third. It gives me material to write about.
I started as a copywriter for two advertising agencies in CT and NY. I was hired by a client and became responsible for all communications for the Control's Group of United Technologies Corp., and later as Manager of Corporate Communications for Combustion Engineering, Inc. in Stanford, CT. When C-E was purchased I took on two divisions and founded Marketing Communications Services, Inc., a full service advertising agency in Suffield, CT.
In the late 1980s, when the economy tanked in the North East, I left MCS, Inc. and moved to Florida where I re-educated myself and became a financial services representative for firms such as MetLife, Mutual of Omaha and others. I retired from AIG after suffering a heart attack. Since my disability, I decided to study anthropology and enrolled in a college degree program with a dual major of history and humanities.
With Helium, writing can permit me to illustrate the complexities of life and the extraordinary things, ordinary people do. It forces me to remain current, provides me with the tools to form worthy opinions and defend the many challenges to those opinions, or to research and accurately recreate events and thoughts as they took place. It enables me to learn and study all the things that fascinate me, which is just about everything.
Writing to me, is all about thinking, both for me and the reader. It allows me to paint a picture with my mind, and to communicate that picture effectively to a specific audience in order to sell, convince or inform. Writing without purpose is a disservice to my audience, waists their time and is an insult to their intelligence.

To me - Spirituality is believing in something or someone far greater than myself, who loves me without conditions, when I succeed and when I fail. Spirituality is not a religion and does not limit itself with definitions, or punish me for my mistakes. Spirituality never produces remorse or guilt, but always strength without aggression, confidence without complacency, and tolerance without animosity. Spirituality lets me forgive when I've been wronged, knowing I could be wronged when I forgive. Spirituality is giving comfort to those who want it, and feeling defeat for those who don't. Spi...
