Because, Georgia is in the orbit of DC while serbia is backed by moscow. Abkhazian people with rest of Northwest Caucasians lived the worst events of european history. after 150 years of struggle with Russians, they had to give up. Most of them left their lands for their lives. this happened 150 years ago. but anyhow till 1926 abhkazia was inhabitted by mostly ethnic northwest Caucasians, till Stalin(A georgian) came to power. first took SSR status of abkhazia then settled many georgians to the region.
