I was born and raised in the windy city of Chicago. I live in the suburbs, but I love the sights and sounds of the city...but I am also a nature girl and love the deer, hawks, racoons, and birds that visit my yard.
There are many days when I think I want to move south and to a warmer climate...but I would miss the seasons. The beautiful fall folage, the silent winter snow, the spring blooming and the Lake Michigan summer breeze.
I have had two careers...and finally now I have decided to really write. I have been writing since I was a teenager and I still have all my tattered journals. Writing is something I can't put down for long. I love Helium because I can write everyday about things I feel most passionate about.

I often wonder if the healthcare system really knows what to do with substance abusers and how to treat them. Unfortunately, I have known too many young people and their poor parents who have lost the battle with drugs. It is a sad state of affairs in the United States. Recently, I watched a co-worker suffer through the agony of losing her young son from drinking and drugs, and she did everything she could for him.
