I was born and raised in Zagreb, Croatia. I immigrated to the US some twenty plus years ago, and I currently reside in Miami, Florida.
I truly enjoy writing, but my most favorite thing to do is to travel. I was fortunate that my father's work took him to many distant places, and although most of the time we were not able to go with him, I learned all about his trips from his slide shows accompanied by captivating stories. He talked about distant countries with such familiarity as if they were his second homes and from an early age I somehow knew that one day I wanted to experience the world in that same familiar way.
While still in college, I got myself a fairly reliable, cheap car and crisscrossed the entire Europe. Once I arrived to the US, I did the same with this continent, and in the years that followed I have been lucky to be able to keep on expanding my horizons.
I traveled with different means and in many different ways, but nothing really measured up until I discovered boating. That opened numerous new doors, which I am happy to say, I am still exploring.

KRK, and other islands with unpronounceable names

"That evening, the northern coast of Croatia was engulfed in uncharacteristically thick fog. From the ferry dock at Novi, not only that the drivers couldn't see the shore of island Krk, a few hundred yards away, but they also couldn't see the ferry which was somewhere in between. All they could hear was the foghorn echoing across the water. Some aimed car headlights in the general direction of the ferry, but the beams simply reflected back at them.
