Hannah Kempf has lived in a pioneer built sod house on the Dakota prairie, a log cabin on a mountain lion path in northwest Montana, and on a 100+ acre farm among the Amish & Mennonite peoples of rural Ohio. Hannah grew up without electricity, television, or pop culture, but with a rich imagination and plenty of art supplies. She has spent the equivalent of several years living abroad in a variety of situations, including six months in a farming village in the Jura Mountains of Switzerland, six months in a fairy tale Black Forest village in southern Germany, two months in a 3+ million strong Brazilian urban center, a month in the Transylvania region of Romania, a few weeks in housing for Skoda automotive factory workers in the Czech Republic, several summers in a converted school bus in the Midwest, and other unorthodox but fascinating living situations. In 2002, Hannah moved to NYC, and lived among nuns from Central America, in a convent in Hell's Kitchen. She now lives in Brooklyn, NYC, with her cat Petey.
