I have grown up in a small hamlet/village in the Grey County (the big black void of civilisation North of Toronto). I have just finished my High School Victory Lap (it would have been my grade 13; instead of going to university I chose to return for extra credits and time to make decisions.) and I am going to Queen's university in Kingston. I have grown up on a family farm and cannot wait to leave Grey County and the Farm and see more of the world.
The Silk Road is one of the greatest and most important trade routes of all time. It was the overland route that connected China and the East to Europe and the West. Our present name of the Silk Road was coined by the geographer Ferdinand von Richthofen in 1870. The Silk Road began in the 2nd century BCE with the diplomatic missions of Zhang Qian sent by the Han Emperor. Zhang Qian was sent to seek out an alliance with a nomadic tribe against the Xiongnu who were hostile towards the Han dynasty.
