About me.... hmmmm, well I'm a "retired" insurance broker, now staying at home raising three kids. My degree is in English, I've been a bookworm since I learned to read and have kept journals since I was a little girl. Reading and writing to me are as necessary as breathing or eating. I write all the time. If I don't have a laptop or paper handy, I'll write on the back of a receipt or an old envelope - whatever I can dig up in my purse to record what's on my mind at the moment. I'm currently working on a non-fiction book for young adults and am fond of the personal essay genre as well.
My passion is ...
reading, writing, cooking, my kids, my husband, animals, the beach
I know too much about ...
alcoholism's effect on the family
My parents always told me ...
don't send cash in the mail!
My childhood ambition ...
to be a detective, a doctor or a baker. Not sure how I ended up with a degree in English and selling group insurance.....
My favorite memory ...
summers on Catalina Island, going to Disneyland with the family, carving pumpkins at Halloween, laying on my dad's back like Snoopy while watching TV, a really special vacation my husband planned a few years ago, the births of our children
Why I write ...
to share what I think, feel, observe. It's something I just have to do.
What I am reading/watching/listening to ...
just read "Water for Elephants". I don't watch a ton of TV but when I do it's usually a Law and Order show or CNN.
My first job ...
a waitress
My best moment ...
winning a recent writing contest and being allowed to read my essay at a local theater with other authors
My inspiration ...
the world around me

I've been routinely shocked and disappointed as I've spent more time in the company of my oldest son and his friends in recent years.
