About me - Cynthia Stodolka

About me

I reside in the beautiful Palm Springs area of California.

I love to read and write.

I have been writing since my pre-teen years.

When I was 15 years old, I wrote and directed play called Andrea's Miracle for my Sunday School class I taught at the Presbyterian church I attended.

The play was cast with children from my Primary class of children ages six through nine that I taught.

The performance was written up in a local San Pedro, Ca. newspaper and was attended by the whole community on opening night.

Over the years i was active as a Foster Parent for LA county and ran a very successfulfamily day care with a dual license.

I decided to return to school after my children were grown to pursue a certificate as  an addiction counselor in the fields of drugs, alcohol, and gambling addiction.

During my pursuit of the addictions counseling certificate,I was required to take a English class that all community colleges require.

During this class we were given many writing assignments to complete on various subjects as well as free lance choices.

Every week the teacher would read aloud one assignment he thought was the best  the previous week.

Almost every week he chose my assignment from all the thirty assignments that were turned in. When he read the one assignment he chose he never told the class who had written it.

This instructor being a creative writing teacher for twenty some years was choosing my work even though it was not a creative writing class to read aloud weekly.

I knew then that all that writing I had done just for my personal pleasure over the years had made me a writer .

I  have sold two articles on Helium. I do love to do research on topics and write for my own pleasure.
