About me - Don Eckman

About me

I'm a little crazy. I've got the papers to prove it. Would you like to see them? I wrote them myself.

I'm getting to the age when entry level cost of living go nowhere jobs aren't enough anymore; the money and imitation of freedom fall short on fulfilment. I figure it's about time I put my talent to work. Fiction is my thing: taking the essentials of life, running them through a blender, stuffing them in the freezer, then firing them out of a cannon and into the umbra to see what happens. The mad scientist taking notes behind the Plexiglas, that's me.

Are the notes worth anything? It's not for me to say. Criticize and praise away, all data is good data.

That said, while I know the bone and beat of writing naturally, the mechanics of what to with it is something learned, an area where I'm ignorant. Is it better to have an agent, or self market? Are shorts too different from novels to count as practise? What makes a good query letter, and is e-mail better than snail mail these days?

I'm here to get the gears running, submit some shorts get some comments, improve. If the trials help me make the connection between scribbles and money, lucky me, but that's not the point. I -am- a writer. Becoming an authour is my destination, but like the cliche says: it's the journey.

Evidently I know more about writing than I thought with where my fiction - the stuff I put the real work into - is rated. Thank you for your support, Helium!

Parenting & Pregnancy > Children's Activities (Other) Should children under 10 have coed sleepovers?

Okay, let me start of by saying I was one of those kids that could be considered 'dangerous' when it comes to these kinds of situations. Most likely because a 'dangerous' girl was my best friend when I was 6 or so, I knew what girls and boys were about what their naughty bits looked like -at least, what they looked like at that age - and had some idea what sex was about. That said, I didn't find it very interesting aside from the sleeping together (in the literal sense) part, likely because the equipment wasn't working right. This girl and I never had sleepovers, but we had plenty of time ...
