About me - Rebecca Bauer

About me

Originally from Memphis, Tennessee, I went to high school in Indiana, college in Mississippi (as the biology major formerly known as Becky McNally), and now consider myself a Texas transplant. In addition to occasional poetry and a few short stories, I am currently working on my first novel, which my husband describes as "chick lit." My highest hope is that it will turn out more "Oprah Book Club" rather than "Lifetime Movie." Please wish me good luck and sanity!

Briefly me

My passion is ...

anything involving story-telling.

I know too much about ...

the art of procrastination. If it were an Olympic event, then I would definitely win the gold.

My parents always told me ...

I should have worn my braces longer.

My childhood ambition ...

to cure the common cold or create a car that runs on trash.

Why I write ...

I love getting lost in a good story and would be humbled to be able to do that for someone else.

What I am reading/watching/listening to ...

This changes all the time. I love reading anything from literary fiction like "The Poisonwood Bible" to young adult fiction like the "Twilight" saga (although it's a little embarrassing, like admitting you still watch American Idol); watching Battlestar Galactica (My husband's fault, but its so addictive. So say we all!) and Pushing Daisies (please tell your friends and family to watch so it won't get cancelled!); and listening to Radiohead and Coldplay.

My first job ...

working at a pool concession stand in Clifty Falls State Park in Madison, Indiana. Go Hoosiers!

My inspiration ...

Harper Lee, Kurt Vonnegut, J.K. Rowling
