: About Me

I am a writer of poetry first and foremost. I live and write in El Paso, TX. I fell in love with writing poetry in my Junior year of high school. I was sitting next to a girl in History. She turned and glanced at me so I asked how she was doing that day. She paused, looking at me for a second and then without a word turned and began writing. I figured that was par for my course. A few minutes later she handed me a poem entitled, "Today I want to see the stars". I still have it and I was deeply moved by it.
I used to write in season of 3 months out of the year that would begin in fall and end just shy of spring. Many times I would write to titles that were given to me by coworkers or family. Now, I write all year long and have fallen deeper in love with it than ever. I will awaken in the middle of the night with a line or two rolling around inside me so loud that I will never get back to sleep if I don't drag myself out of bed and write it down, so I do. And the sketching begins in the morning light. Sometimes there is nothing more beautiful than a blank page, simply because of the waiting unknown, because of the endless possibilities, the aimless direction of the many roads that twist and bend into a destination all their own, accented along the way by the whims and givings of inspiration and their tendencies to transform an empty piece of parchment into the shapes and shadows of the vivid mind and a restless heart.
