About me

I have always enjoyed writing and it has always been something that comes naturally and that I can do easily.

During my teenage years I was extremely shy and was often unable to express my opinions clearly because I was so self-conscious that I was unable to think of the words to use. The ability to write was invaluable at this stage.

I thought about becoming a Journalist for a time but again, shyness seemed to be the big inhibitor. Finally I decided to become a Primary School Teacher and my writing skills were put to good use.

During forty years in education I have enjoyed teaching children from Prep through to Year 6, though I would have to say that my work has become less pleasurable in recent years due to an overload of administrative requirements, the too-crowded curriculum and the constant need to be a social worker when dealing with parental and student problems.

Finally, I have the time to write myself, instead of constantly striving to get my student to write. The prospects for enjoyment now are unlimited and I look forward to communicating with kindred souls with similar interests.

I consider the term "coloured person" totally offensive and would not condone its use in any context. This opinion is not based on self-protective instincts, as I would be equally appalled if someone described me as "white'. A person's "colour" is of no more significance in regard to worthiness than is that of the dairy cow in my neighbour's paddock. To make a point: the cow is a Friesian, an indigenous breed of Northern Europe; its colour, incidentally, is black and white, yet this has no bearing on its physical hardiness or its ample milk-production the two reasons for which it is valued...
