I started writing in 1989 when I took a creative writing class. One of the assignments for the class was to submit an entry to the Bulwer Lytton Fiction Contest where contestants vie to come up with the worst beginning sentence to an imaginary novel. To my utter amazement, I won - proving unequivocally that somebody down there likes me.
Since then I have written avalanches of essays - many of which have been published in the San Jose Mercury News, The San Diego Union Tribune and the Oakland Tribune.
I also write a column for Ladybug Flights Magazine (www.ladybugflights.com) called "All About Me and You . . .Well, Not You.
I get a kick out of writing down thoughts that occur to me as I drift down reality in my inner tube of life and posting them to my website at www.lindavernonhumor.com.
I live in the California gold country with my husband of 34 years, two dogs, two cats and a retired racehorse whom we fondly refer to as Sedentariat.

A Cold Chill Winter's Day Off the top of my head From the depths of my heart I shoot from the hip When I say That I know you and love you Like the back of my hand On a cold chill winter's day I've got a leg up on love My elbows are greased My eyes are pealed only for you Your skin is as clear as the nose on my face So I'm sorry it's over. We're through.
