Hello to all my peers. I never thought I would be writing anything anyone else would want to read. One exception being my college English Comp 101 teacher several years ago. And now, here I am, a 58 year old female who took an early retirement from a long 30 year job.
One of my first jobs out of high school was writing society articles for my hometown newspaper. And as luck would have it, I did get a chance to write other articles for another local newspaper later in my search for the "perfect" job. So I've tried my hand at several different approaches. Now I just want to write like I feel I should. I had to add a lot of 'fluff' in the newspapers to take up space. I hope I don't do that too much here. Please point it out .
Employment update, now a jobsite administrative assistant for a construction company. However, I've been told it will only last until after Thanksgiving, 2009. Then I guess I will be out pounding the pavement again, still trying to find something that I really love! But, at the same time, I am still young enough to think about having insurance and making enough to pay all my bills. I do have one bright spot, I am attempting a couple more classes in college. This time I have in mind getting a degree I can use, and know the job is one that is always needed. I think my position in life is a care giver. My mother is still living with me and she is not in the best health. I never know from one day to the next if we may have to make a trip to the hospital. First it was my grandmother, I lived next door to her til I married at age 18 and moved. She passed away within a couple months after I left home. Then it was my dad for a couple years. And since then my mother has been living with me. I think the Good Lord is showing me a direction here.
I don't get to spend a lot of time at the computer. Living in the south gives me time when it's too hot outside or too cold in the winter, but studying is now my main passtime. For some reason it seems like it takes me longer to memorize and learn my lessons.
I plan to write a lot about growing up in the 60's. If I had not lived in such a small town in the late 60's and 70's, I think I could have been a flower child. But we were so far behind time, there was too big of a time difference before we even knew what a flower child was. However, I am all too familiar with the Vietnam war, loosing friends and family, and intergration. Being from the south, who wouldn't know about intergration and segration? A lot of people don't understand that as a teenager during that time, we really didn't care if we went to school with blacks. We grew up with them, it really didn't bother us. The war was a different story.
I also love to cook and have a good construction background. Maybe I'll throw some of my knowledge on those subjects in.
Well, that's about all from me right now. I just wanted to update my profile a little. Don't want to spoil the fun when I do submit something! Till later, thanks for reading my bio and let me hear your comments, please!

I do not consider it a duty or obligation to help my parents financially. I know if I needed "help", if they could have afforded it, they would have helped me out. And now, since my father has passed, my mother lives with me. I do not consider that an obligation either, it is a privilege that I get to spend so much time with her that I didn't have when I was married and while she was still married to my father. She has so much to tell me that I didn't have time to find out when I was younger. However, while I was growing up, after high school and getting married, any time I really needed h...
