When I was three, my father starting reading Shakespeare to me, mostly plays. Although I did not understand it at the time, he was an actor and sucked me in by means of entertainment. By four I understood and was able to recite Shakespeare on cue. Since I have grown up I had always wondered if it was my father's Shakespearian influence at such a young age that has led me to be so great with English, and humanities in general for that matter.
I started writing for pleasure in four or fifth grade. My friend and I used to write intricate stories, mostly murder mysteries because at this point we were into Agatha Christie. As I grew into my adolescent years, my writing shifted dramatically into poetical expression. I was a bit rebellious and went through a lot, learning a lot. Writing was my release, my artist's paintbrush, my musician's instrument, and it was a great relationship.
I have been writing since, both privately and academically. I keep a private journal, and I do post some of my "poetry" (if it must be called something) on-line. I am currently a college student and will be focusing, certainly my minor if not my major, on English.
The other day, a friend of my mother's asked me to write an article for her about her daughter's wedding, to be submitted to a bridal magazine. And my mother, after realized how interested I was, suggested I do free lance writing, so I looked into it and here I am.
Past and present English teachers have always encouraged me to do something with my writing. My current English teacher is, in fact, reviewing some of my poetry now for possible publication.
Although I am not the most experienced writer when it comes to being published, I have always known that I would someday write something significant and amazing. Why not start with an article?
My passion is ...
the arts. And, cheesy but true, the quest for love.
I know too much about ...
I don't think anyone can know too much of anything....
My parents always told me ...
I could do whatever I wanted to as long as I stuck with it and gave it my all.
My childhood ambition ...
was to be an actress.
My favorite memory ...
too tough to narrow down a favorite. But most recently I went canoeing and camping 33 miles down the Big Bend in Texas, and that was incredible. I have lots of new favoite memories that were created in that week.
Why I write ...
Well, if I don't write the words I need to speak start to build up and it feels as if they make me toxic, clogging my arties and veins, to the point where I can't eat, sleep, or relax until I get them out. That's a pretty good reason, right?
What I am reading/watching/listening to ...
listening to one of my favorite pieces of music EVER, Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata. (I'm not just saying that, I love classical music.)
My first job ...
was working in a tiny 50's style Ice Cream parlor, and I loved it.
My best moment ...
Wow. Thats a tough one...I'm going to have to say preforming in general. (Dance, theater, singing, etc)
My inspiration ...
is LIFE.
Present: Blues. I feel this bass beat dropping in my head, this thump thump thump wont let me go. I've got to sing you something about the blues got to let you know I'm still in love with you. Blues, baby, blues is all around it never leaves this forsaken town, just when I thought I was clear, that thump thump thump starts coming near. I feel the cold night creeping in my bed dancing through the pillows into my head saying, "Baby, baby, baby, go ahead and fall asleep but don't forget that rhythmic beat." Ba da daa dump. Da daa da la da daaaa blues, blues is all around. I'd like to say I ha...
