About me

Bruce has spent 6 years in the Information Technology and Emergency Management fields. Bruce's information technology background includes working as a network administrator and telecommunications technician.

In 2002, Bruce started as a Duty Officer with the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services' Center for Emergency Response and Terrorism (CERT) as a Duty Officer in the Department Situation Room and serving as a member of the department's emergency response team. For four years Bruce planned and executed CERT's exhibit for over 10 conferences per year. He developed the Department Situation Room's paperless automation system, Emergency Operations Center tracking system and the department's site assessment system used on the response to the Caruthersville tornados. Bruce designed video training programs for duty officers and emergency response team members. Bruce also served on Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services' Volunteer Management Advisory Committee.

While working at CERT, Bruce took on external emergency management projects. He served as a coordinator for the Cole County Medical Reserve Corps and developed emergency plans for the Northeast Missouri American Red Cross chapter. He also serves as a CPR Instructor and Instructor Trainer with the American Red Cross and a Basic Life Support instructor with the American Heart Association. He is an Adjunct Instructor with the University of Missouri Fire and Rescue Training Institute teaching Community Mass Care Management and Incident Command System. Bruce serves as a Firefighter with Boone County Fire Protection District and a Technical Information Specialist with Missouri Task Force 1.
