About me

Hello my name is Connie. I am a domestic engineer, for anyone who is not familiar with that term in PC language (politically correct language) it translates to a stay-at-home mom or as a friend of mine once told me a work-at-home-mom. Yes, I am often in school volunteering with field trips, bake sales, tutoring, and barefoot gym along with other areas where I am needed. I am that mom to which children can come to for help. Recently, I became aware of the illiteracy rate in the school population. This shocked me for I know how important literacy is and it is an invaluable tool everyone needs in their life to further themselves onto a fulfilling career. Another mom and I have done research for the past two years and are now on a mission to bring literacy to the forefront by introducing a program designed to help children with Dyslexia along with other reading and writing issues. We want to get those children help who so desperately need it. We believe that parents who are proactive and stand together will make a positive change.

I am blessed with two wonderful children, one daughter and one son along with a very loving and supportive husband. We live in the city but we go to the family cottage which we share with other family members during the summer months. It is there where my heart belongs. Near the water is where I derived the most peace and clarity. As a family we have a lot of fun and our home is always filled with laughter.

I am on Helium thanks to a special friend who saw in me a potential to become a writer. In the past I had contemplated writing but never followed through with it. I am looking forward to seeing my articles in print on Helium as well as reading the works of other writers to learn and grow from. I am interested in finding out how Helium may have a positive impact on my life. Thank you CJ for the nudge!

The Unicorn is said to be a mythical creature.I on the other hand have had the greatest gift bestowed upon me when I did indeed meet a Unicorn one sun filled summers day as I was picking blueberries in the forest for mother's blueberry pie. It was getting late and both my pails were filled to their brim of blueberries. I however was so busy searching for the berries I had completely gotten lost and did not ke...
