A published novelist and historical researcher, I live in the Netherlands with my partner, Corrie Kuipers.

My primary area of interest is British/European history with an emphasis on crime and criminals and 19th century London. I also study early 19h century British naval history, particularly the Napoleonic era, and New York City, primarily the pre- and post antebellum years.
