What does one say when they are asked who they are? There are so many things that make up the whole of "me" that its sometimes hard to know where to begin. Currently I'm a 25 year old Army wife and mother of two beautiful children. My husband has been in the military for nearly 3 years and has already seen 2 deployments overseas (in the middle of one right now). I did not grow up in a Christian home but found God in my early teenage years and have clung tight to Him through many a tragedy and triumph. I was raised by my maternal grandmother and grandfather who were the light and inspiration in my life. My parents both had severe alcohol and drug addictions thus made it close to impossible to develop a strong relationship with them while I was young. Eventually, my father really took hold of his life and we have since become emotionally inseparable, but until that point, grandma and grandpa were number one. My grandmother was my very best friend and was the one person I looked up to in many aspects of life, but sadly she committed suicide 5 days before my 19th birthday. Overcoming that particular tragedy was something that took several years, but in doing so it has made me a much stronger person, and I feel, a much better writer. I have had a love of writing for many years. Poetry, short personal excerpts, and stories... mostly about my life as there is much to tell. I have a strong passion to let my voice be heard as I stand up for what I believe in and always try to help someone using words as the Lord seems to have blessed me with this gift of knowing what to say and how to say it not only to get a point across, but also to touch hearts. Many would say that I'm a very free spirited person, as my heart belongs to the Lord and my freedom is in Him. I'm a very open person, as well as open minded and love to have discussions on almost any topic. I love music, and I also love to sing as poetry is the heart, the music is the soul. Put them together and you have one awesome story. Please feel free to write to me, and feel free to tell me honestly what you think of my work. I can take constructive criticism, as well as getting compliments and both are greatly appreciated. As I've heard from my grandmother many times, without failure, it's impossible to truly appreciate success. I appreciate your taking the time to read what I've written, and look forward to reading others as well.
How many of you Christians struggle with the idea that your relationship with God is really more like that of a person reading a good story and getting great ideas for your life from what you've read? It seems almost as though your daily walk really is more of a discipline than a desire, and you just can't get to a point where you have a connection or an intimacy with the almighty. Reading the Word becomes taking a theology class and then church on Sunday mornings is now your weekly lecture in this college course, where the exam is how you live which becomes viewable by all you know.
