Personal Profile: Date of birth: 4th. June, 1955. I am a patient person, with good communication skills and a highly-developed sense of humour. I believe in quality work and attention to detail in everything I do and am thus a good self-motivator. I don't tend to 'flap' or become angry in tense or pressured situations; preferring to think my way out of any difficulties. I can adapt to working either 'solo' or in a team environment.

Education: Spondon Grammar School, 1966-1973. C.S.E. Chemistry (2) and Mathematics (4). G.C.E. 'O' Level passes in English Language, English Literature, Geography, Geology, Biology and French. G.C.E. 'A' Level pass in General Studies.

Employment: I was last employed at the Derby Evening Telegraph, at meadow Road, Derby. I started with this company in December, 1979, in the position of Circulation Sales Representative; with responsibility for enhancing sales of the newspaper within an assigned territory. From April, 1985, I worked for the same company in their Information Technology Department, as a Computer Operator. I worked a two-shift system on a Unisys System 80 mainframe and was also responsible for monitoring and housekeeping duties on four Ethernet systems and one other mainframe machine. My job with this company became redundant in July, 1993.

Previous Employment: 1977-1979; Derbyshire County Council Education Committee. I was employed as a Despatch Clerk at the Derbyshire Schools Resources Centre, Kedleston Road, Derby. Duties included packing/unpacking educational resource material, working-out delivery routes and occasionally performing deliveries. 1975-1977; employer as above, working as a Junior Clerk at the Derbyshire College of Agriculture, Morley, Derbyshire. General office duties.

Current Status: After redundancy in 1993, I received Job-seeker's Allowance until April, 1996, at which time I started a one-man garden-maintenance and hedge-laying business. Towards the end of 1998, I became a carer for my father. I continued to work at odd jobs on a part-time basis and fulfil the role of a full-time carer until my father's death in September, 2005. Since that time, I have continued to live on two small pensions and work occasionally as a singer and musician, labourer, bicycle-repairman and Health Service volunteer. I am registered as self-employed.

Ironing by Candlelight. - Thoughts of the Author in (much) Younger Days. There isn't any doubt about it, but, just to be certain, I think it only fair to warn you that I'm fond of the odd drink. The odder the better. In fact, I've some bottles of home-made paint-stripper upstairs, labelled innocently enough as, 'Crab-apple', or, 'Apricot'. Don't be fooled. In the process of creating these concoctions, I think I must have accidentally stumbled on a unique chemical combination; a sort of blend of shark-repellent and extract of hyaena. I don't suppose I'll ever have the opportunity of testing...
