I am a retired Senior Adult Protection Caseworker with a Bachelors degree in Social Work. Being retired, I have more time to devote to my passion - writing. I have written a Young Adult novel which I am hoping to have published.
Writing has always been in my blood. I remember, as a young girl in grammar school, being curled up in a corner with pen and notebook, scribbling down my thoughts. Poetry was my forte and I'd often, through the years, find myself running for pen and paper as a poem formed in my head. I wrote poems for friends and family, special occasions and, mostly, to express my thoughts and feelings.
I have been a Heliumite since April, 2008 when I saw an article about Helium in my local newspaper. I had to check it out and I've been hooked ever since. It is a great forum for writers and a wonderful place to meet and share with those who also have a passion for writing.

One Life Ends, One Life Begins In our little, pop-up camper Your arm thrown over me all quiet except for the sound of crickets Earlier that day, a heart biopsy and echo everything looking good so far You sleep, knowing the biopsy is over once again I lie awake, listening Then, the faint sound of a helicopter in the distance The sound growing louder as it approaches the hospital Is it another organ being transported? Another life to be saved Another life lost A life ended, another saved The night sounds of a transplant facility I press your arm, giving silent thanks One Life Ends, One Life ...
