I'm a writer who makes his living as a technical guy. I love my technical career. But I love writing more.
Over the years I've had many pieces I've written either produced or printed. The piece I'm most proud of is a screenplay for a movie based on the works of D.W. Griffith. Produced by a student group (Boulder Biograph) it showed at the Denver Center for the Performing Arts with professional piano accompaniment and very positive feedback.
I also created the premise for and wrote most of the scripts for a locally produced TV Sitcom that lived for six episodes. It was cheesy, low budget and unpaid work but it was about the most fun I've ever had.
None of this has made me a living. I doubt writing for Helium will either. But if people are reading my words in whatever venue, then I consider that worthwhile.
Since you've already read all of the above, I'm chalking this one up as a victory too. ;-)
My passion is ...
After my family ... sharing my vision of the world through my writing.
I know too much about ...
Guns, Big Trucks, and the nature of humanity (for the last, I don't know as much as I'd like, but too much for my personal comfort)
My parents always told me ...
That I needed to focus. They might have been right. Man, I need to repaint this office!
My childhood ambition ...
To become a novelist.
My favorite memory ...
Hmmmm. Not sure that would be appropriate to post.
Why I write ...
Because I believe that maybe the things I see and write about will resonate with someone else and help them understand the world - as other writers have helped me. Plus I just don't seem to have a choice - that darn muse won't let me sleep if I stop.
What I am reading/watching/listening to ...
I watch as many movies as I can. Other than that the only TV I watch daily is the news.
My first job ...
Working at a fast food fish restaurant. For less than minimum wage.
My best moment ...
Was in the wee hours of the morning in August of 2003. Awestruck, I reached out to touch my newborn daughter, also my firstborn, and she grasped my finger. I became changed at that moment, and I knew I would never be the same again. And never wanted to be.
My inspiration ...
All of God's creation ... or at least the small percentage I understand.

Twenty years ago civilians were generally banned from carrying firearms for self defense in most public places. But times and laws have changed and the rules for National Parks must change with them. Because National Parks were created for American citizens to enjoy, not to drive political policy. The real question we have to face is: if a law, however politically correct it may sound, protects no one and actually makes the general population less safe, is that a law we want to maintain? This National Park/Monument gun ban became outdated in 1987 when state legislatures began giving civili...
