Season BubbleGirl was first introduced by Australia's national papers during march 2006 in feature front page article, Her Fate is Sealed. She hasn't left her home in almost ten years because of MCS (Multiple Chemical Sensitivity). Some cases, as in BubbleGirl's, are deadly, resulting in anaphylactic shock, where the patient's airways swell, the immune system unable to defend itself from particular chemicals. Triggers such as fragrances, cleaners, fossil fuels, propellants and gardening chemicals are so common in society that MCS sufferers are forced to stay home. Yet, despite a solitary life, BubbleGirl is a strong, witty, positive 27-year-old with a hunger to succeed.
Her books have been self-published and promoted. Autobiography, Absolute Individual: Life in a Bubble, has been praised for its candid, honest voice, deeming BubbleGirl a motivational icon. She has appeared in periodicals in America, Australia and the UK; and featured on radio stations in Australia and the UK.
"I can't just tell half the story!" she says. "The reader is a trusted friend - given every ounce of interesting (and sometimes embarrassing) information. People knowing my every thought doesn't scare me; being helpless in my bubble does. I want to reach and entertain with my work for years to come."
"I didn't spend my first sixteen years learning to write, only to waste it. Giving up now is not an option when I have only just begun to inspire and help others, particularly those with MCS."
Despite her tragedy, BubbleGirl does not frown upon chemical companies. She does not condone the banning of chemicals. "It's like banning fishing because some people are allergic to shellfish. We cannot wipe out the entire species of bees, just because some react to their stings. It's a matter of those allergic taking care, and those of sound immune systems to continue their lives as they are."
As of 2007, BubbleGirl attends online university to earn herself a diploma. In her future she wants to have a profession to follow online, being a true work-a-holic.
"Okay, I have to stay home and be in a sterile environment, and sometimes I have to recover from anaphylactic reactions to the shopping Mum brings home, but I'm not going to just give up. Every day I'm feeling good is a work day!"

My parents always told me ...
I'd be someone unique - not that THIS is what they imagined!

Why I write ...
I write to share with others. Life is too short not to compare notes and learn.
AEROSOL TOMFOOLERY ALTERED MY IMMUNE SYSTEM
When I was 16, I had a chemical exposure that damaged my immune system. My body is so sensitive that it cannot tolerate fragranced products, cleaners, carbon monoxides, medical creams and treatments, paints and strippers, raw woods, formaldehyde, toothpaste, soaps and shampoos. Neither can I to go outside. There are fertilisers on surrounding gardens, car fumes, paint or rennovation materials, and pesticides.
I rather work than wait in my room for a cure. It doesn't seem right to put my life on hold for a cure that may never come. My hobbies...
