About me - Andie Anderson

New to Helium. I've been writing off and on forever. I used to write stories when I was five then got out of it, and then wrote in high school and college- mainly poetry, had some poetry published and I'm hoping to get into stories and articles eventually.

Mary didn't know what to think about what she saw. She was twenty years old but had lived a life of lies, lies to her mother, her father, her sister, her supervisor, and even to herself. No one would believe her, not in a million years. It's funny when you lie, you start to believe it after awhile, as if you are rationalizin...

Creative Writing > Poetry Poetry: Feeling lost

I was young once I crawled on all fours like a dog when I got older I could stand on two feet I could run and climb Now I'm on three legs, a cane to prop me up so I don't fall I sit alone in this place for the ancient ones Sometimes family visits usually they don't, they have lives to live as I did I have many good memories ...

Creative Writing > Short Stories Short stories: Tales of horror

Amy-Lynn wasn't always like that. No sir, she was the epitome of goodness and solidarity. I remember when she used to bake loaves of bread to donate to the church. Sometimes I'll walk by a bakery and a flood of memories comes back, like those loaves of bread being baked so long ago. That's when I found out the truth of what ...

Creative Writing > Poetry Poetry: Humanity

Song of the Cetaceans I churn the waters of the seven seas I swim into the forever I sing of the past the present and the uncertain future I sing for all mankind. Many men wonder who I really am I have come from the eons I have come to save our souls. We tell our children to love us but men still hunt us down I cry for my br...

Creative Writing > Poetry Poetry: Moving on

Thoughts She sits by the door the clock is ticking away, It's quiet here I feel the air conditioner click on and blow through the vents Boy the days I remember when there was no air and the nights were so hot and stifling I used to dream I was a beauty queen or a scientist and now I wonder what the dream meant Maybe I'm gras...

Creative Writing > Short Stories Short stories: Life lessons

I was alone in the house when I began to perceive a strange sound, a sort of low moan. I murmured to myself, "Aw, you're just imagining things, you're just scared because you saw, The Haunting on television". I glanced at the digital alarm clock and saw that the night had gone by fast; it was 5:30 am. At seven o'clock, I wou...

Creative Writing > Memoirs Memoirs: My father

I was adopted when I was an infant, and the legal process was final when I was two years of age. My parents may have told me I was adopted when I was about five years of age but I didn't really know what it meant. My adoptive father was a saint. He was forgiving, loving, full of fun and humor, and I could do no wrong in his ...

Creative Writing > Reflections Reflections: My pledge to humanity

When you get to your half-way point in life there is a kind of epiphany of sorts. Mine is that I look back on my life and ask where did I come from and where did I get to and where am I going. What is my little contribution to this planet. I read an article this morning that humanity was once close to extinction some 70,000 ...

Creative Writing > Novel Excerpts Novel excerpts: Life

The Best of Both Worlds The seasons were changing once again. Autumn had arrived with her leafy jacket of orange and brown. The air was crisp and the geese were preparing for their trek to warmer lands. Lisa Brown sat on the front stoop watching little whirling currents of air spin the leaves around and around like a dradle ...

Creative Writing > Poetry Poetry: Saying goodbye

The Wind Chimes of God I lay by the back fence panting in the warm sunshine listening to the wind chimes behind the fence in the Loquat tree. I don't know how they make that sound but it makes my pain go away a little and I can sleep and dream of chew toys and chasing cats and running through the waving grass of long ago I u...
