: About Me

I have been writing since my arms grew in the womb; for some magical reason a notebook appeared and I was able to start taking notes. Writing to me is communication without any interruption. My name is Joriah Goad, I am twenty years old, married to the only woman God created(turns out GOD is an amazing artist. For a while there I thought he was miserable- his other vessels are discouraging little bastards). I have just finished my first novel: THE ORIGIN OF ABSENCE. For a man who eats words, sleeps in sentences, and dreams in paragraphs, there is only one line of work compatible with my waking hours: and that's writing.

My passion is ...

expression in its many forms. The diversion of words and thought. Love- I look forward to the return, I have found something that many people claim to be a myth; and they claim this because they are victims of a prescribed fate that enables them to skip down the yellow brick road of regret without thinking twice about the possibility of something greater than that which they have seen...

I know too much about ...

film, music, literature- I plunge viens with obsession and addiction. I used to teach film history/production.

My parents always told me ...

that they were a prime example of what not to be and that they had my permission to rebel if it be for the better... (or maybe that was just me)

My childhood ambition ...

started with the desire to act, then direct, then write screenplays, then I reached the final place- the quickest route to reveal my mind: words.

My favorite memory ...

(childhood) was on July 4th sometime between 94-95, I remember seeing the sky light up for the first time and running from the explosions. It looked as though the stars were falling like constellation rain. It seems that out of all my childhood memories, this is the one that captured my biggest smile in the reposed album of recalled thought. (adult) Meeting my future, she is everything I will ever need and she believes and loves all the same things I do, she compliments my insanity.

Why I write ...

to reveal the sanctuary of my mind- the thoughts, the visions, the emotions. I want to take people to another place, or take them back to a place they've been away from for a long time. I write to express myself. I write to escape. I write to reveal. I write because I love it.

What I am reading/watching/listening to ...

I am reading The Portable Beat Reader, I am watching THERE WILL BE BLOOD (over and over again), I am listening to Radiohead.

My best moment ...

Meeting the woman of my dreams, my Wife, Ashlee Goad.

My inspiration ...

My Wife, without her, I would have given up.
