About Me:
My motto in life is simply this, "Everything deserves a test drive." After trying to convince myself that my life path was leading me to pursue political aspirations, I found that I was at heart a salesperson. Cars, coupons, whatever. I sold it. I needed something more, so I test drove a career in education. I never looked back. I love being a teacher.
I love to read and write. My dream is to retire with a laptop in the Gulf Coast, getting paid to write for people who would never even recognize my face, just my words.
I just married my best friend and soulmate in Negril, Jamaica. Our wedding was perfect, and I am so excited to start our new life together. I have an amazing stepson. He is the spitting image of his father. Right now, I am discovering these are the best years of my life.
My passion is ...
writing and teaching. Words are the essence of life itself. To love words is to love life.
I know too much about ...
young adult literature. Whenever my students can't put a book down, I have to know what's so great about it.
My parents always told me ...
this too will pass. Life has handed me ups and downs, but they have made me a better writer, teacher, and person.
My childhood ambition ...
to be a novelist. I have just started dabbling in fiction, however. Journalistic writing a poetry are my forte.
My favorite memory ...
is now the week I spent in Jamaica with my family, friends, and new husband.
Why I write ...
I write to release emotion and educate.
What I am reading/watching/listening to ...
The Hour I First Believed by Wally Lamb
My first job ...
was drycleaning clothes for five bucks an hour.
My best moment ...
was when we said "I do" with our feet in the sand.
My inspiration ...
is found in the people in my life, including my family, friends, and students.

Families are losing their homes, unusually cold weather is sweeping the warmest parts of the nation, and rich CEOs want to be bailed out while the little guys struggle to make ends meet. That being said, when I think about the artists who will make the country forget all that ails us, just one name pops out. No, it's not Bono, Wyclef Jean or any other politically savvy musician. It's Britney Spears. Hear me out: Britney embodies the American ideals at the pr...
