About me - B. L. Babb

About me

Writing is one of my passions in life. It may also be one of my few vices. I spend days at the computer screen putting thoughts and word to screen. In the absence of a computer, a pen and paper works equally well.

For me it all began in the desert community of Parker, Arizona where I was raised in the 70s. Upon graduation and at the encouragement of my parents, I joined the U.S. Navy. Little did they know I would make a career out of it!

In 1981 I was off to boot camp and an entirely new life. One I would continue to live for over 20 years. I retired from the Navy as an ENC(SW) with many life experiences to write about.

About seven years before I retired, I became the first female US Navy Fleet Diesel Inspector and to date, to my knowledge, there has not been another.

I have spent many years traveling around this great nation and the world. I am constantly observing the world around me and some of those sights must be shared!

I have seen many things from my Naval career and beyond that most will never see living in the United States. The shanties of Rio de Janeiro. Poverty so bad in Chile and Turkey that children will run into the streets to retrieve pennies. Burning oil wells off the coast in Kuwait. Sand storms while aboard ship with no land visible.

My military career and employment after retirement has taken me from Florida to Massachusetts, from Hawaii to Texas and beyond. I have seen other countries as well, including Italy, Germany, Spain, Turkey, Bahrain, Puerto Rico, Barbados, Bermuda, Brazil, Chile, and France; the list could go on.

I am experienced in computers, converting VHS (and other home movies) to DVD with menus, and almost all things U.S. Navy, as well as diesel knowledge.

My true loves are my four dogs. Three Chihuahuas and Stitch. I have posted videos of them on one of my links so if you are here from an article about Stitch and want to see what he looks like, as well as some of the antics I have written about, click the link provided to the right.

With all of this to write about, I need to get started!

New to driving? Think you are ready for your driver's test?

You are comfortable with all aspects of the test except having to demonstrate how to parallel park? No problem, there is a methodical way to approach parallel parking making it a simple task to perform.

Practice makes perfect, try this until you are comfortable before heading to the license bureau.
