: About Me

Four generations, four different first languages three different continents. That's the story of my family.
Born in 1946 in Germany to a Polish father and a German mother, I have always thought of myself as a "Truce" child. My playgrounds were the ruins in our city, my toys mostly the treasures I found in the rubble.
I left for the U.S. at age 21, driven by a spirit of adventure and fueled by a scholarship. Two years later I moved to Kingston, Ontario with my new husband. I proceeded to get my PhD and become the mother of three children. I decided to become a qualified English and Drama high school teacher. I have been writing in both, German and English and am currently completing a bilingual novel TO FIND THE RAVENS. This fictionalized autobiography deals with the protagonist's observations of how people from her childhood have tried to deal or not to deal with their Nazi past. This topic has been of special interest to me since my oldest son is now a Modern Orthodox rabbi in Jerusalem.
Over the years I have lived in California, London, Paris and Bonn for a year. I love to travel, and enjoy coming home to the many lakes in Ontario, where I swim in the summer and skate in the winter. I broke through the ice once, yet managed to stay afloat for 45 minutes and obviously lived to tell the tale.

TREASURE HUNT The morning we walked from the fire hall, big people, little people big dogs, little dogs people pushed in wheelchairs people on foot I heard a small voice say: This is a treasure hunt, right, Mom? What makes you think that, honey? cause the lady said, we are walking to help find a cure, and a cure is a treasure, right?! Two dogs started barking, so I missed the mother's response. but began to muse while watching the white and purple balloons dance over Mary What if ... we just had to lift up this rock by the road or this discarded pop can, What if ... we peeked into this hed...
