California grown in the 70's, Marcy Yarbrough thrives on political dialog and spiritual insights, but spends most of her ink keeping in touch with friends. Her letter-writing once coaxed male suitors across the country, but only one pen-pal touched her heart. A love of music, poetry and well-crafted humor brought them much closer than the 3,000 miles that kept them physically apart. They met after 7 years of writing, married in 2001 and became parents to two fine boys in 2005 and 2007. Now, an old shoebox holds the letters they shared all those years ago, a documented history of their long-distance courtship.

harmonizing with others in song and emotion.

is the day my best friend and future husband stepped off the plane and into my arms for the first time.

Why I write ...

People need to be touched in an encouraging, humorous way and perhaps to find that we are much more alike than we imagined.

was a file clerk for a local pediatrician.

all that the Lord has done and is doing in our lives.

The last time we got dressed up and submitted ourselves to be bent up like pretzels, the portrait included Mom, Dad, my sister, her husband, their son, my other sister, her daughter, my husband and me. We did not have children yet. And it's true: my husband barely made it through the sitting the way they had him kneeling and leaning behind us. Now that we've got our little family completed, I've been wanting to get a portrait taken in time for Christmas... but just us this time, the Yarbroughs. We usually just do it ourselves and they turn out pretty nice, but a professional photo is, well...
