I am a scholar of Ancient Rome, Ancient Israel, and history in general. I try to be somewhat of a renaissance man, knowledgeable in many areas. Basically, that means I try to know enough about everything to be a nuisance at a dinner party.

I also occasionally write humourous essays, or at least essays that I think are humourous.

I hate Texas. I hate it with a deep and abiding passion. I might go so far as to say that I loathe Texas. But probably I wouldn't. Last weekend I once again found myself in that state for the 5th time in my life, although one was accidental, so I don't know whether or not to count it. (The bus carrying my soccer team missed our exit in Texarkana, all right?) I was to be a groomsman in a wedding for two of my dear friends, and had various other reasons to go.
