Between the ages of ten and thirteen I had many challenges to overcome when it came to children teasing me. As a fifth grader I stood out because I wore skirts while all of my other classmates preferred to wear jeans. On a daily basis someone would tease me and tell me I looked like a thrift store junk heap or a hobo, and those were some of the nicer comments. The teasing and the abuse escalated to the point where my mom had to go to the principal and let him know what was happening in this classroom.
