In order to overcome a fear, you first must realize that most fear is irrational thought. Fear is brought about by simply not understanding or not even knowing something. It is a focus on the what if, rather than the what is. The fear of flying is no different. You get in a big plane, go real fast, and hope that it can take off, climb to 30,000 feet while going 600mph, then be able to land safely at your destination. I agree, the idea is horrifying.
