Dr. Kathy Fortune, a graduate of Howard University, is a medical doctor with a specialty in forensic medicine, forensic psychiatry and workplace issues. As a forensic consultant, she evaluated and qualified as an expert witness in several hundred legal cases related to sanity, competency and emotional distress.
In addition to private practice, she treated patients at a Veteran's Administration Hospital. She also worked as a staff psychiatrist at a jail and at a maximum-security division of a hospital. She had a no-nonsense approach to her work with incarcerated gang members and was successful in changing many attitudes and behavior.
She provided consulting and training in the area of workplace violence and has served as a motivational keynote speaker. She is passionate about sports and has served as a consultant for the NBA and NFL. She has appeared on Sally Jessy, 48 Hours and 60 Minutes.
Dr. Fortune is writing a book about her life entitled Raindrops on a Tin Roof. It is a captivating and inspiring story about survival and overcoming adversity to achieve success.
